Belay Certification Class

The Knot - Climbing Gym

 

*This class is open to members and guests of members and may have up to 4 students.

Belay classes are free to members and $25 for guests of members.

Once you’ve checked out our bouldering area, the belay class is a great way to expand your horizons upwards! This class lasts two hours. In the first half of the class, you will receive instruction in knot tying, belay device set up, and belay technique. Once you have the basics down, you will need a climber. This person can take the class with you or just tag along to climb. In the second half of the class, you will have the opportunity to climb with your partner while still having access to your belay instructor. They will be with you to answer any questions that may come up while you climb.

You must make arrangements with a climbing partner prior to the class. The Knot can not make these arrangements for you. You must have a climber to take the class!

**Please arrive 15 minutes early so that you can get checked in and ready to climb.**

Yoga

Yoga complements rock climbing well so we’ve added free yoga classes for members every day of the week. We have multiple yoga styles represented and all classes are designed with rock climbing movement and goals in mind.

Align

Instructor — Angela H.

ALIGN builds strength, flexibility, and intentional breath with a strong focus on optimal alignment in each shape. Expect longer holds, plenty of modifications to make more challenging postures safely accessible to all bodies, and an exploration of movement possibility!

Restore

Instructor — Amanda B.

The class utilizes props to support the primary focus of relaxation. Drop in, tune out, let go. Expect to use props to help support a total body melt; feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

Handstand Conditioning

Instructor — Kate K.

This is a part flow, part workshop class that will focus on building the strength, flexibility, and stability required to handstand. Each month will focus on a set of drills and movements that can be taken upside down as excellent cross-training for your climbing practice. Expect to build some heat and power in an invigorating flow that prepares you to spend some time upside down! There are no prerequisites for this class but we do recommend some experience kicking up to a wall.

podFLOW1

Instructor — Chelsea S.

podFLOW 1 is a proprietary set sequence designed by our good friends at Yoga Pod and taught exclusively by Yoga Pod trained instructors. Classes embody the true spirit of vinyasa yoga, breath-synchronized movement, set to music. While podFLOW 1 provides a physical challenge, the class is suitable for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Classes begin with an active and intentional warm-up, and progress through sequences designed to build strength and flexibility.

This class helps increase body awareness and also aims to balance male-typical patterns of inflexibility that may hinder climbing. Are your really tight hip flexors and hamstrings preventing you from getting that high foot you need to make progress on your current project? Yoga is great cross-training to help with these sorts of issues.
